Making the move from employed solicitor to self-employed consultant solicitor is life changing and is not a decision to be taken lightly. So to help you along the way we have put together a short list of just some of the dos and don’ts of being a consultant solicitor at Cognitive law.

DO:

  • Go on holiday when you want
  • Have an afternoon nap
  • Go to the gym when it suits you
  • Walk the dog
  • Earn as much as you want
  • Pick the kids up from school
  • Help your mum in her garden

DON’T

  • Wear a suit every day
  • Commute
  • Sit at your desk when you’re feeling unproductive
  • Work for clients who don’t value you
  • Fight for annual leave requests over school holidays
  • Be constrained by private practice rules
  • Subject yourself to firm-imposed targets

Ok, so the list is a little light-hearted but it does gives you a flavour of the culture we have here at Cognitive Law. All our consultants have complete autonomy in planning their working lives.
