Making the move from employed solicitor to self-employed consultant solicitor is life changing and is not a decision to be taken lightly. So to help you along the way we have put together a short list of just some of the dos and don’ts of being a consultant solicitor at Cognitive law.
DO:
- Go on holiday when you want
- Have an afternoon nap
- Go to the gym when it suits you
- Walk the dog
- Earn as much as you want
- Pick the kids up from school
- Help your mum in her garden
DON’T
- Wear a suit every day
- Commute
- Sit at your desk when you’re feeling unproductive
- Work for clients who don’t value you
- Fight for annual leave requests over school holidays
- Be constrained by private practice rules
- Subject yourself to firm-imposed targets
Ok, so the list is a little light-hearted but it does gives you a flavour of the culture we have here at Cognitive Law. All our consultants have complete autonomy in planning their working lives.
